In my research, I am broadly interested in student learning and attitudes in college classes, particularly in psychology and other STEM disciplines. My recent projects have focused on study habits, attitudes toward statistics, and information literacy skills. My past research outside of the classroom focused on autobiographical memory and how our beliefs about who we are affect the way we remember our past, and vice versa.
I teach General Psychology, Research Methods in Psychology, Human Development, and Cognition. As a former student of the Honors College, I strongly value belonging to a close-knit community of teachers and learners. In my classes, I foster an environment where all students can feel that they are part of this community. I encourage students to be active, reflective learners and want them to feel comfortable taking intellectual risks and making mistakes as they learn.
I enjoy swimming, board games, and crocheting. I also like to spend time with my nieces and nephews and to play with my cat Barty. I love to read young adult science fiction/fantasy novels and I will never be too old for this!
