SBDC Host Business Skills for the Modern Creator Program
by Rafael Cruz & Alberto Fernandez | Friday, Jul 01, 2022The Small Business Development Center at Florida Atlantic University, in partnership with the Broward County Cultural Division, hosted the Business Skills for the Modern Creator program on the Davie campus. On four consecutive Saturdays in June, 36 Creative Entrepreneurs learned the fundamental skills needed to manage their creative businesses successfully and profitably.
The creative economy is vital to South Florida and this program targets the specific needs of creative entrepreneurs in their journey to grow their businesses. Business planning, tax and legal considerations, marketing, branding, pricing, grant writing and raising capital are covered with special attention on the needs of creatives.
Rafael Cruz and George Gadson, of the SBDC at FAU, are founding faculty of the program. This marked the 16th year of this enduring economic development partnership between the SBDC at FAU and the Broward County Cultural Division. During that time, over 900 artists have successfully graduated the program.
